When it comes to journalism in the U.S., there are few more important Supreme Court decisions in American history than the landmark Warren Court 1964 ruling in The New York Times v. Sullivan.
The case established the standards for libel claims. In 2017, Coral Ridge Ministries Media began a legal challenge that set up a possible review by the nation’s highest court of that 1964 case.
Alas, the Supreme Court has declined. Clarence Thomas is displeased with that decision.
