Search for reality star ends in suicide

Millionaire developer and one time VH1 reality show contestant Ryan Jenkins eluded US and Canadian authorities for days after his ex-wife was found murdered in California, but the search has ended in Jenkins’ native Canada. A motel manager found Jenkins’ body on Sunday, an apparent suicide.

Despite his photo being splashed over TV and newspapers for days, the motel manager and a permanent resident of the rural Thunderbird Motel told the Vancouver Sun they didn’t recognize Jenkins because he was skinny and gaunt, not the muscular man who’d appeared on VH1’s “Megan Wants a Millionaire.”

The room rental had been paid through Sunday. When the motel manger went to check on the occupancy status, he found Jenkins’ body hanging by a belt in the closet.

Canadian authorities are still seeking the woman who rented the motel room last Thursday, the same day Jenkins was formally charged with the murder of his ex-wife, LA swimsuit model Jasmine Fiore. Her body had been found August 15, but it had to be identified by the serial numbers of her breast implants because the teeth and fingers had been removed to hinder identification. The beaten and mutilated body had been stuffed into a suitcase left in a garbage dumpster.

Jenkins, 32, had met the 28-year-old model in March, shortly after he finished filming the VH1 series. They quickly married, but the vows were soon annulled, according to Jenkins’ mother. Nevertheless, they apparently reunited, but had a stormy relationship.

VH1 has another series in the can, “I Love Money 3,” in which Jenkins appears. The network has now cancelled that show, as well as any additional airings of “Megan Wants a Millionaire.”
