Seattle area AM gets a Canadian connection

Satnam Media Group Inc. has struck a deal for an AM on an island not far from Seattle WA. It will be the first US station for the licensee, but not the first station – a minority partner is already active in the Alberta, Canada radio scene.

The station is KWDB-AM Oak Harbor WA. Its Class D 1110 kHz signal, limited to 500 Watts which can only be broadcast during the daytime, means it is not destined to be a big hitter in the Seattle-Tacoma Arbitrons, even if it put its primary signal over the urban area. And that it does not – it gets fringe coverage only from its position to the northwest of Seattle, including the waters to the west of the city.

The seller is Action Pages LLC, headed by David Lindsey. The price is $35K cash.

Buyer Satnam is 80% owned by Paramvir S. Bisla. However, it is 20% owner Sukhdev  S. Dhillon who provides the Canadian connection – he has a stake in CIHS-FM inWetaskiwin, Alberta.
