Stock prices took a dive as the Conference Board reported a sharp drop in its Consumer Confidence Index. Wall Streeters fear that if consumers aren’t upbeat enough to do some spending that the economic recovery could stall out. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 268 points, or 2.7%, to 9,870, back below the 10K psychological barrier. Radio and TV stocks took a beating.
The RBR Radio Index was down 24.123, or 7.3%, to 305.240.
The TVBR Television Index was down 14.826, or 7.5%, to 182.727.
