Senate broadband hearing postponed

The scheduled Senate Commerce Committee hearing on the FCC’s recently-released National Broadband Plan was scrubbed and designated for rescheduling. The session would have held interest for television broadcasters wondering about the safety of their hold on their current slice of spectrum.

The sole scheduled witness for the 3/23/10 afternoon event was FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski. We have seen his prepared testimony, and can report that it did not contain a single mention of the word television. Nor did he delve into the particulars of spectrum accumulation for expanded wireless broadband service.

The House Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet has NBP on the agenda for 32/25/10 at 10AM. There is still no word on witnesses for that one.
