Senate Commerce, Judiciary Leaders Press FCC

U.S. CongressSenate Commerce Committee leaders told FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler they’re concerned about the agency’s plan to eliminate or change its network non-duplication and syndicated exclusivity rules.


Eliminating the rules without making corresponding changes to the compulsory license system would potentially alter the way in which the cable compulsory license is meant to function, according to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ranking Member Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John Thune (R-SD) and Ranking Member Bill Nelson (D-Fla).
