Senate panel may create job openings at the FCC

There will be five employment opportunities on the FCC’s 8th Floor if a bill passed out of the Senate Commerce Committee continues to move through Congress. The bill would allow each FCC commissioner to hire an additional advisor, one with a technical background.

S. 2881, FCC Commissioners’ Technical Resource Enhancement Act was passed by unanimous consent by the Committee 3/24/10. It was introduced by Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and co-sponsored by Mark Warner (D-VA).

Concerned about the highly technical nature of much of the business before the FCC, it allows each FCC commissioner to add one technical advisor to their staff. The new hire must have expertise in either electrical engineering or computer science.
