Seventh season premiere ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ wins Thursday

The seventh season premiere of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE posted a 3.0/10 among Adults 18-49, up +11% from its most recent premiere on 9/9/09, while also up +24% in Total Viewers (8.2 vs. 6.6 Mil.)


SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE showed momentum throughout the night, growing every half hour of and gaining in its last hour versus its first by +22% among Adults 18-49 (3.3 vs. 2.7) and +16% in Total Viewers (8.7 vs. 7.5 Mil.)

Compared to its season average in Fall’09 SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE is up +25% among Adults 18-49 (3.0/10 vs. 2.4/7) and +34% in Total Viewers (8.2 vs. 6.1 Mil.)

In head to head competition in the 8p hour SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE outperformed the series finale of ABC’s Flash Forward by +115% among Adults 18-49 (2.8/10 vs. 1.3/5) and +56% in Total Viewers (7.8 vs. 5.0 Mil.)

FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos.

Competition

The series finale of ABC’s Flash Forward posted a 1.3/5, matching is lowest original rating to date and dropping -19% from last week and -41% from its 09/10 season average (2.2/7). The special Hollywood Salutes Matt Damon: An American Cinemateque Tribute delivered an 0.8/2 at 9p, while a repeat Grey’s Anatomy posted 0.9/3 at 10p.

CBS aired repeats of How I Met Your Mother (1.1/4), Rules of Engagement (1.3/4), CSI (1.6/5) and The Mentalist (1.8/6).

NBC ran a repeat Community (0.9/3) at 8p, followed by the premiere of new comedy series 100 Questions (0.8/3) at 830p. Repeats of The Office (1.3/4), 30 Rock (1.2/4), The Office (1.2/4) and Parks & Recreation (1.1/3) aired from 9-11p.
