Radio & Records announced that President and Publisher Erica Farber will leave at the end of January after heading the publication for 16 years. Effective immediately, R&R has been integrated into the Nielsen Business Media portfolio and is being overseen by Billboard publisher Howard Appelbaum, VP of Entertainment for Nielsen Business Media. The Nielsen Company, then called VNU, purchased R&R in July 2006 for $18.5 million and the former Billboard Monitor publications were folded into it.
RBR/TVBR observation: As long as any publication has their roots buried in paper, ink, postage and have not made the full transition into digital or new media the future is dark. Major daily newspapers are dropping like flies and Nielsen Business Media is over loaded with lots of print trades including R&R.
