Tidewater Duo Sync Up For Shazam

Listeners to two Norfolk stations owned by Max Media now have the power to learn just who sings that song they’re hearing, or what that song’s name is.

CHR WVHT-FM “Hot 100.5” and Country WGH-FM “97.3 The Eagle” are the latest stations to partner with Sun Broadcast Group on Shazam For Radio, an interactive smartphone App.

Shazam’s technology is simple: Upon hearing a song, listeners can simply access the Shazam app, hold their smartphone close to the audio source, and within seconds get the title and artist and any additional relevant information presented to them.

Shazam For Radio takes it a step further by allowing radio stations to deliver promotional announcements, artist information, station personalities, social media and sponsored content to its listeners — this time, in a visual platform.

“We think Shazam For Radio is an amazing opportunity for both programming and sales, as we look to engage our fans in every way possible,” Dave Paulus, VP/GM of Max Media Holdings of Virginia, said.

Ron Rivlin, SVP of Programming and Affiliate Relations for Sun Broadcast Group, added, “Shazam For Radio will allow even greater audience interactivity and engagement with their market-leading brands.”

Shazam for Radio is now in use on more than 1,000 radio stations, including those owned by Hubbard Radio, Greater Media, All Pro Broadcasting, and on such nationally syndicated radio programs as The House of Hair with Dee Snider.
