Sherman Kizart:

Sherman Kizart, Managing Director, Kizart Media Partners, spoke to RBR-TVBR about the 6/2 meeting held at the 4As in NYC. The collective meeting discussed No Urban and No Hispanic Dictates and where the issue stands. Included were FCC Commission Robert McDowell; Reverend Jessie Jackson, Jr., Chairman/Founder of Rainbow PUSH; 4As CEO Nancy Hill; Mike Donahue, 4As EVP; Horizon CEO and 4As Media Policy Committee Chairman Bill Koenigsberg; Radio One CEO; ICBC CEO Charles Warfield; and Alexandra Cameron, Emmis SVP. 14 members from the Media Policy Committee were also present—mostly media agency CEOs.

Sherman tells us the meeting went very well and mentioned the Media Policy Committee and agencies would come up with a policy statement and set of best  practices to alleviate No Urban and No Hispanic Dictates in the industry, while working closely with broadcasters and the FCC. Koenigsberg tells RBR-TVBR: “We had a very informed meeting with the goal of better understanding each others business needs. Continued dialogue is always a good thing.”

The 4As Media Policy Committee consists of 25 CEOs of the nation’s leading media buying agencies. Collectively, these media agencies place over $700 billion in measured media including Radio.

Kizart says No Urban and No Hispanic Dictates cost minority stations some $300 million annually.
