Sheridan Broadcasting Corporation has hired an individual whose chief task involves the development of new digital, video, mobile, and social media content — in addition to  cultivating e-commerce consumer revenue strategies as well as launching new business partnerships.

Taking the post as President of Sheridan Radio and Digital Division is Leroy Jones, Jr.

He reports directly to COO Ron Davenport, Jr., who said Jones “is committed to serving as the guiding force behind our new digital video and audio platform, which will include independently and originally created content for Sheridan.”

Additionally, Jones will be helping us explore possible joint ventures and partnerships, and maximize relationships with our sponsor brands and listening and viewing audiences.

“Everyone who knows Leroy or who comes in contact with him understands it is his passion and commitment to getting the job done that will ensure the vitality and continued success of our company,” Davenport said.

With a successful 25-year career in Washington, D.C., Jones has worked as a legislative aide in the Senate and House of Representatives, giving him the unique experience of working on both sides of Capitol Hill.

Shortly after leaving Capitol Hill, he accepted a political appointment to work at the White House for President Clinton.

“I’m thrilled to be taking this new role with SBC during such a transformative period,” Jones said. “I can’t think of a more exciting professional opportunity to tackle. SBC has a rich history and amazing brands, and I look forward to being a vital team member by equipping this company to compete throughout the remainder of this century.”

Sheridan Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) is one of the nation’s oldest Black-owned broadcasters and has been in operation since 1972. SBC is headquartered in Pittsburgh and been in both the local and network radio business. SBC currently owns WIGO-AM in Atlanta.

  1. This is a great story about Sheridan Broadcasting. It’s amazing though that they started a new business but still haven’t paid the 11 or so employees almost 2 years later after closing their newsroom. No pay checks no severance & refusing to pay. The Davenports claim they have no money but look at this!
