Simmons spins out of Waco

Gary Moss and his M&M Broadcasters radio group are building in Texas, picking up a pair of AMs and a pair of FMs from Utah’s Simmons Media Group Inc., headed by David Simmons. The stations are in the Waco TX Arbitron market.

M&M will pay $1.98M cash to get KRZI-AM Waco, KLRK-FM Marlin and KRQX AM & FM Mexia from Simmons subsidiary Simmons-Austin LS LLC. They are not the first Texas stations for M&M but the double-duopoly combination will be the first four in this particular market.

Brokerage Kalil & Co. represented Simmons, with John Pierce performing similar chores for the buyer.

AC KLRK-FM is brings in 50 kw from 92.9 MHz on the dial, and KRZI-AM plays Sports with the standard expanded AM band 10 kw-D, 1 kw-N configuration on 1660 kHz. The more modest powers of the Mexia combo are used for a Country format.
