Sin City AM getting religion

BusinessTalkRadio is selling its Las Vegas AM station, and in keeping with one of the dominant station trading threads of recent times, the station is going to go noncommercial.

The station is KNUU, licensed to Paradise NV. It’s a Class B on 970 kHz with 5 kW-D, 500 W-N, DA2 (with five towers) that does a good job of covering the city.

Michael Metter signed off on the deal for the seller, which is operating under licensee name BTR West Inc.

The buyer is IHR Educational Broadcasting, headed by Douglas Sherman. The buyer indicated its plans to take the station noncommercial on the application.

The price will be $950K cash.

The bulk of IHR’s footprint is in California, but it is making inroads in other western states. This station will be its second in Nevada, joining KIHM-AM Reno, and it also has one full power station apiece in Arizona, Utah and New Mexico to go with the 11 it has in California.

It also holds CPs for two more in California and one each in New Mexico, Oregon and Hawaii.
