Sinclair and ABC extend again

Yet again, Sinclair Broadcast Group announced that “affiliation agreements with the ABC Network for nine stations it owns have been extended until March 31, 2010 while the two sides continue to negotiate.” The affiliation agreements have been extended month to month since the previous contract expired on New Year’s Eve.

When Sinclair CEO Daivd Smith was asked about the ABC negotiations in his company’s quarterly conference call last month, he said ABC was in negotiations with numerous affiliates, not just Sinclair, so he wasn’t really worried about the time it was taking. At that time he said he hoped a deal would be struck soon, but it hasn’t come yet. So, it’s another one month extension.
