Small Gains In Thursday Trading For Media Companies

It was a relatively quiet Thursday for publicly traded radio and TV broadcast companies on Wall Street, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average improved 14.80, to 20,662.95. The Nasdaq Composite index grew 14.47, to 5,878.95.


Viacom was among the companies that saw gains, with a 26-cent gain putting VIA-B shares at $45.58.

The E.W. Scripps Co. also saw an uptick in its stock value, finishing at $23.48 thanks to a 31-cent improvement.

Meanwhile, Saga Communications enjoyed a 30-cent gain, ending the day at $50.65.

Decliners included Spanish Broadcasting System, which ended Thursday’s trading at 60 cents per share.
