Sotomayor leads the pack

The confirmation hearings on SCOTUS nominee Sonia Sotomayor vaulted her to the top of the news coverage charts, according to the Project for Excellence in Journalism tally for the week of 7/13-19/09. All media categories except newspaper handed her the #1 slot.

Newspaper picked the economic crisis, which was the consensus #2 with 13%. However, cable largely gave that story a pass, giving it a mere 5% of its time. However, cable and cable alone was able to get in enough coverage of the passing of Walter Cronkite for it to register on its individual top ten list, with 6%.
