Sports Radio KJR adds FM

Clear Channel’s Sports Radio 950 KJR AM Seattle added the 102.9 FM signal 11/4 at 7:00 a.m. The former Q Country KNBQ-FM has been retired. The simulcast will increase 950 KJR’s reach and will cover many areas of the South Sound including Tacoma, Spanaway, Rochester, Port Orchard, Bremerton, Olympia, Graham, Orting, Gig Harbor, Eatonville, Lacey and Tenino. The simulcast is home of the NFL, March Madness, and of University of Washington Football and Men’s Basketball.

RBR-TVBR observation: We’re starting to see a trend now where, yes, music stations are being nixed on FM by spoken word (a simulcast or new station altogether) formats—but are no longer being added to an HD-2 or HD-3 channel in the market making these flips. Classic Rock WYSP-FM in Philadelphia is also gone forever, as was Classic Rocker WHTQ-FM in Orlando.
