With the current economic slump expected to grip the nation for the next 18-36 months, local radio and TV stations are grappling with how to deal with a dramatic loss in ad revenue.
To help stations stay competitive in the weakened marketplace, state broadcast associations are teaming up with LocalBroadcastSales.com, a new on-line and on-demand sales training site.
Since the site launched in January of this year, 11 state broadcast associations have turned to this new, innovative approach to sales training. More than 1,400 broadcast sales professionals in New York, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Texas, Montana, Illinois, North Dakota, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana and Louisiana are currently logging onto this daily sales resource.
"The on-demand sales training from LocalBroadcastSales.com has been one of the most successful programs ever offered by our association, and clearly one of the most appreciated by our member stations," said Dennis Lyle, president and CEO of the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
The service includes an online archive of more than 150 video modules featuring industry favorites like Paul Weyland (Sales 101), Ron Steiner (TV Sales), Gary Moore (Selling by Personality Style) and Stephen Warley (Web Sales).
