Station receiver finds a buyer in the mirror

Vernon Floyd is listed on the FCC transaction application as Receiver for Unity Broadcasters, licensee of WGDQ-FM Sumrall MS, a station in the Laurel Hattiesburg market. And his name shows up again in the blank where the buyer’s name goes.

Floyd is using his own name as the official licensee, but says he’ll be doing business as Circuit Broadcasting of Hattiesburg.

According to a court order filed with the FCC in March, the station had been owned by Victor Floyd, son of Vernon. Vernon was said to have supplied financial backing, and was appointed receiver after the death of Victor’s partner Ardessia Eatman and Victor’s subsequent abandonment of the business.

Terms are simple and unspecified forgiveness of debt.

Vernon Floyd already owns and operates WORV-AM and WJMG-FM, both licensed to Hattiesburg MS.
