Former University of Florida radio and TV broadcaster Steve Babik was sentenced Friday (9/17) to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for possession and distribution of child pornography. According to the Gainesville Sun, Babik will remain on probation for the rest of his life once he gets out of prison.

The 51-year-old broadcaster was arrested in January when federal agents seized a computer in his home as they executed a search warrant based on evidence that he had been exchanging kiddie porn on the Internet.

Babik agreed to a plea bargain and recorded a PSA against child pornography. He could have received a prison sentence of as much as 20 years.
