Stocks closed higher Thursday in a low-volume session. A typical summer lull was exacerbated by a trading glitch that halted trades in Nasdaq-listed stocks across multiple exchanges for more than three hours. The Dow ended a 6-session loss streak to gain 66.19 points, or 0.4%, to 14,963.74, boosted by better European and Chinese manufacturing data and continued improvement in the labor market.
The RBR Radio Index was up 11.922, or 1.8%, to 684.001.
The TVBR Television Index was up 8.099, or 1.2%, to 681.408.
