Stocks gain for third straight day

Stocks closed slightly higher on Tuesday, gaining for the third consecutive day. After the initial wobble, investors shrugged off mildly disappointing economic reports on inflation and housing market. However gains were muted as headlines of violence in Iraq did not abate. The S&P closed 4.21 points, or 0.2%, higher at 1,941.99. The Dow added 27.48 points, or 0.2%, to 16,808.49. The Nasdaq ended the day up 16.13 points, or 0.4% at 4,337.23.


The RBR Radio Index was down .479, or .1%, to 882.550.

The TVBR Television Index was down 12.840, or 1.5%, to 862.264.
