A Fab Friday On Wall Street Forgets Media Stocks

From all accounts, it was a great trading session on Friday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 142.04, to 19,756.85, and Nasdaq grew 27.14, to 5,444.50.


But a big gain from The Walt Disney Co., which climbed 1.4%, to $104.86, was the lone bright spot for radio and TV companies. Beasley Broadcast Group dipped 9.3%, to $6.35, while iHeartMedia slumped 6.7%, to $1.40. Sinclair finished the week off 1.9%, to $33.90, while Saga Communications was off 1.6%, to $48.50.

Of the few media companies seeing healthy gains was Townsquare Media, up 5.2%, to $10.15.

 

The RBR Radio Index fell 10.222, or 1.56%, to 644.452.
The TVBR Television Index fell 14.507, or 1.45%, to 986.740.
