Ever since Lou Dobbs brought up the Obama birth certificate controversy, he’s been generating headaches, mostly for himself, but also for his cable network CNN. Watchdog Media Matters has been on the attack, and Dobbs used his radio show to fire back. Now Media Matters is collecting cash to continue an advertising campaign aimed at Dobbs and CNN. It’ll run on rival news nets Fox and MSNBC, as well as on CNN.
RBR/TVBR observation: The usual rule is that there is no such thing as bad publicity, but that doesn’t seem to be holding in this case. According to reports, Dobbs has been hemorrhaging ratings points since he entered the birther fray.
