DirecTV added 129,000 US subscribers and 184,000 in Latin America in Q2, for a total of 313,000, somewhat more than analysts had expected. US revenues rose 13% to $4.2 billion and Latin American 49% to $611 million. That produced net income of $455 million, or 40 cents per share, which was right in line with Wall Street expectations. CEO Chase Carey said the company is poised to extend its leadership position and will launch 30 more HD channels next week, bringing DirecTV’s total HD offering to 130 channels.
