Fox announced plans to re-air the Michael Jackson-themed performance show from the past season of “American Idol” this evening. The 8-10 pm rerun will pre-empt “House” and “Lie to Me.”

“To honor the memory and celebrate the life of one of the most iconic entertainers of our time,” Fox announced that it would air the encore broadcast. Jackson himself does not appear on the show.

This past season’s Top 13 American Idol contestants performed music from Michael Jackson’s songbook, including “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Black or White,” “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),” “Remember The Time” and the seminal hit “Beat It.”

American Idol is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America; and Ken Warwick, executive producer, FremantleMedia North America.
