As expected, the FCC will limit itself to one true order of business when it convenes the first Open Meeting of 2009 on 1/15/09. That will be implementation of “The Short-term Analog Flash and Emergency Readiness Act,” also known as the “Analog Nightlight Act.” Its thrust is to “encourage and permit” continued analog TV service after the 2/17/09 DTV transition date. The rest of the meeting will allow FCC execs to review 2008 and look ahead to the remainder of 2009.
