SoldWXCO-AM Wausau WI licensee Sunrise Broadcasting has been making a go of it as a standalone Talker, serving the Wausau portion of the Wausau-Stevens Point WI Arbitron market – but that’s about to change.

Sunrise, headed by Steven H. Resnick, has a deal to acquire WDTX-FM Rothschild WI. The price for the station will be $325K, payable 100% pursuant to terms of a promissory note. A TBA will go into effect prior to closing.

The seller is JER Licenses LLC, headed by Jon E. Robinson.

WDTX is a Class C3 on 100.5 MHz with 25 kW @ 276’. Like WXCO, it does a better job of covering the northern Wausau side of the market, although it does throw a primary contour over parts of Steven Point. It calls itself ESPN Sportsfan 100.5.

WXCO is a Class C on 1230 kHz with 1 kW-U, ND. Known as 1230 The Voice, it plays America’s Morning News for wakeups and then cycles through a menu of mostly progressive talkers, including Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann and Rhandi Rhodes, Phil Hendrie and Dennis Miller.
