TowersThe buyer plans to use the signal to expand coverage of its Fox Sports Radio affiliate.  K287AK covers a mountainous area northeast of Bend, Oregon.

Sunriver Broadcasting, owner of Fox Sports Radio affiliate KCOE-FM 94.9 in Terrebone, Oregon, has acquired K287AK, a class D FM translator at 105.3 FM licensed to nearby Prineville, Oregon, from Positive Life Radio for $7,000.

At 10 watts high above a mountain peak, Sunriver aims to use the translator to rebroadcast KCOE’s programming, owner Charles Wilkinson tells RBR + TVBR. Prineville is to the northeast of KCOE’s primary coverage area of Bend, Oregon, to the southeast of towering Mt. Hood and the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. “This fills a little bit of a gap with the KCOE signal,” he says. “It fits nicely for us.”

K287AK has been airing the Christian Talk & Teaching format of Positive Life Radio, based at KYPL-FM in Yakima, Washington.

KCOE-FM signed on in October 2015 and began simulcasting Sunriver’s KICE-AM 940, which switched Sports affilations from ESPN Radio to FOX Sports Radio in September 2015.

KICE-AM will continue to serve as a full simulcast partner of KCOE-FM, while K287AK could be used in the future for HD2 programming associated with KCOE, should Wilkinson opt to add it.
