Scripps’ KSHB-TV (NBC) Kansas City reports that a 20-year-old man has been charged with the July murder of NBC Action News evening assignment editor Nick Dutcher. He was 30 when his life was cut short.

Documents filed with the court by local prosecutors say Antonio T. Grandison has confessed to strangling Dutcher, who came home unexpectedly while Grandison was burglarizing his residence. Grandison has been charged with first degree murder, first degree burglary and armed criminal action. He made his first court appearance Monday and the judge entered a not guilty plea because Grandison did not yet have an attorney.

KSHB notified police on July 20th when Dutcher didn’t show up for work and could not be located. His aunt met police at the home and let them in, where they found Dutcher’s body. His car was later found and a finger print lifted from the vehicle led police to Grandison.
