Team Coco heading to TV (without Coco, though)

Conan O’Brien’s new show on TBS won’t debut until the fall, but some of his associates are giving the cable network’s viewers a little taste of what’s to come. Andy Richter, Reggie Watts and several of O’Brien’s writers are teaming up for a one-hour special with the working title “Team Coco presents Conan’s Writers Live.”

This show has already played to sold-out audiences in Los Angeles and is coming to Chicago for one night only. The showcase will be taped at the Bank of America Theater on Thursday, June 17, at 7:00 pm (CT), and premiere on TBS Sunday, June 27, at 10:00 pm (ET/PT).

Richter was O’Brien’s sidekick on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” from 1993 to 2000 on NBC, before venturing out to star in “Andy Richter Controls the Universe” and “Andy Barker, P.I.,” and then returning to join O’Brien as announcer for “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” also on NBC. You know what happened to that.

The comedy evening will also feature the musical stylings of comedian Watts, who is opening for O’Brien on The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.
