Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), running as an independent in a three-way battle for the US Senate in Alaska after losing a close primary, has been invoking her relationship with the late Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) on the stump – and now she’s going to run ads he made for her shortly before his untimely death.
According to The Hill, Stevens made the ads to assist Murkowski in her contentious primary with Joe Miller. However, the plane crash which took his life took place before they went on the air, and Murkowski decided not to run them.
However, she is now planning to put them on the air as she mounts a write-in campaign to retain her seat in a three-way race that includes Miller and Democrat Scott McAdams.
Murkowski said she has cleared the plan with the Stevens family.
