Telemundo hires Efrain Lopez

Telemundo Media announced veteran corporate exec Efrain Lopez as SVP/Strategy, effective immediately.  Lopez will be based in Miami and report to Emilio Romano, President of Telemundo Media.


In this newly-created role, Lopez will  be responsible for capitalizing on business opportunities, partnerships and market trends in Spanish-language media as a means to secure content and revenue growth that builds and enhances the brand.

“Efrain’s breadth of experience encompasses growing some of the top Hispanic companies in the U.S. and Latin America and elevating their brands to new heights by creating innovative models for expanding revenue and content streams,” said Emilio Romano, President, Telemundo Media. “His entrepreneurial spirit and creativity in forging new business models will be instrumental in continuing Telemundo Media’s leadership in the U.S. Spanish-language market.”

Lopez brings to Telemundo Media more than 18 years of experience working at various investment banks negotiating mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, business alliances and other strategic ventures in the media, entertainment, lifestyle and consumer sectors in USA, Spain, Latin America and Mexico. Most recently, Lopez served as the Head of Consumer and Industrials America and member of the executive business committee for BBVA. In that capacity, he was responsible for building a new Americas corporate finance team for BBVA and generating advisory opportunities with companies operating in the US Hispanic and Mexico consumer sector.
