In an effort to reach out to Hispanic high-end consumers, Telemundo Communications Group will be hosting its first ever “Digital Influencers Event” 4/27-4/28 at Telemundo Studios in Miami. Influential bloggers attending the event will spend the first day meeting with Telemundo executives including Peter Blacker, EVP/Digital Media and Emerging Business, Don Browne, President, Telemundo and Borja Perez, VP/Digital Media and Integrated Solutions, who leads [email protected], as well as others.
They’ll also attend a rehearsal for the upcoming Billboard Latin Music Awards, have lunch with Telemundo talent and conclude the day with a VIP party for Telemundo Studios-produced “RPM Miami”, to debut on Telemundo’s younger-skewing cable sister net mun2 5/1.
Day two will include a studio tour for the bloggers, a red carpet experience at the music awards and seats to the live show. Over the two days, the bloggers will have the opportunity to tweet and blog to the audiences about the various sessions taking place.
[email protected], which launched in February, focuses on delivering its fans across Facebook and Twitter interactive experiences tied to TV programming. With dedicated social media resources tied to each of Telemundo’s shows and novelas, [email protected] aims to take the entire TV viewing process to a more engaging level. Building off the success of its Interactive Broadband Series, “Telemundo Live”, and mobile social initiatives, Telemundo plans to expand its focus on sharing more access to its studios, shows and talent in Spanish and English.
RBR-TVBR observation: Certainly a great way to boost awareness of Telemundo programming. Showing the bloggers a great time in Miami and inside the Telemundo Studios should not be hard to do. However, bloggers often get their following from telling the truth and shedding light on things others don’t, so it’s a bit of a gamble too in case something goes awry with the red-carpet treatment.
