Telemundo scores best November viewership

Telemundo delivered more than 1.2 million total viewers (persons 2+) and 656,000 adults 18-49 during Monday through Sunday primetime in November 2011, which was the best November primetime performance in the network’s history among total viewers (persons 2+), according to Nielsen.


The network tied with CBS as the fastest-growing broadcast network among adults 18-49, growing 6% vs. November 2010, and was the fastest-growing broadcast network regardless of language among total viewers (persons 2+), up 17%  for the month of November. Additionally, Telemundo was the only Spanish-language broadcast network to deliver year-over-year growth in both total viewers (persons 2+) and adults 18-49, and outperformed the CW’s primetime delivery 30% of the time during November among adults 18-49.

Compared to the prior year, Telemundo grew +17% among total viewers (persons 2+) and +6% among adults 18-49 in Monday through Sunday prime. November marks the fourth consecutive month during which Telemundo registered year-over-year growth among adults 18-49 in primetime, while Univision marked its fifth consecutive month of declines and Telefutura its 17th consecutive month of decline in the same demographic.

During the November sweep period, New York’s WNJU was the #1 weekday primetime station across all Spanish-language stations in the market among adults 18-49, delivering +38% year-over-year growth. WSCV’s “Noticiero 51” in Miami ranked as the #1 newscast at 11pm regardless of language among adults 18-49 for the 12th consecutive sweep and delivered +69% year-over-year growth.

“Una Maid en Manhattan” Premiere

“Una Maid en Manhattan’s” premiere delivered nearly 1.6 million total viewers (persons 2+) and averaged 821,000 adults 18-49, a triple-digit increase versus the most recent novela launch in the time period. “Una Maid en Manhattan” increased the time slot delivery in November 2011 across all key demos by double-digits, including +24% among total viewers (persons 2+) (1,579,000 vs. 1,277,000) and +29% among adults 18-49 (821,000 vs. 638,000). In New York and Miami, “Una Maid en Manhattan” ranked #1 across Spanish-language broadcast networks among adults 18-49.

Program Highlights

Telemundo was the #1 Spanish-language broadcast network during primetime on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, beating Univision by +18% among total viewers (persons 2+) and +37% among adults 18-49. That night, Telemundo aired the top two primetime movies on Spanish-language broadcast television for November 2011 among total viewers (persons 2+) and adults 18-49, “El Bolero de Raquel” and “El Padrecito,” respectively.

“Caso Cerrado Edicion Estelar” at 7pm averaged over 1.6 million total viewers (persons 2+) and 783,000 adults 18-49, growing +20% and +15%, respectively, over last November.

At 8pm, “Mi Corazon Insiste” delivered its best performance in its final month, averaging nearly 1.3 million total viewers (persons 2+) and 638,000 adults 18-49 for the month, a +23% and +29% increase, respectively, over the prior month’s delivery.

“Flor Salvaje” increased the Monday through Friday prime 9pm hour delivery by double-digits compared to the November 2010 delivery in the time period, averaging almost 1.2 million total viewers (persons 2+) (+25%) and 662,000 adults 18-49 (+22%).

With nearly 1.4 million viewers in November 2011, “La Casa de al Lado” increased the total viewers (persons 2+) delivery in the Monday through Friday prime 10pm hour by +60% compared to last year.

“Futbol Estelar” featuring Chivas vs. Queretaro on Saturday, November 26 averaged more than 1.7 million total viewers (persons 2+) and just over 1.1 million adults 18-49.  The game led Telemundo to rank as the #1 Spanish-language broadcast network in primetime on Saturday night among adults 18-34, men 18-49 and men 18-34. The match was the highest-rated Fútbol Liga Mexicana (FLM) quarterfinal match in Telemundo’s history.
