Telemundo announced the launch of its 2008-2009 "El Poder de Saber" campaign (The Power of Knowing), the network’s multi-platform initiative that urges Hispanics to seize the "power" of education among young Latinos and their families.  Marking its fifth anniversary this year, "El Poder de Saber" focuses on the benefits of staying in school in particular at the high school level.  The new "Poder de Saber" PSAs will begin airing Monday, September 15, after their initial premiere during Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste (M-F, 5-6 p.m. ET).

Featured in this year’s spots are popular on-air Telemundo personalities Ana Maria Polo (Caso Cerrado), Candela Ferro (Al Rojo Vivo Fin de Semana con Candela Ferro), Rashel Diaz (Levántate), sports anchors Karim Mendiburu and Edgar Lopez (Deportes Telemundo), Roser (mun2 Pepsi Música), and novela stars Aylin Mujica and Jencarlos Canela. Each star lends their enthusiasm and talent to the campaign, encouraging parents to be actively involved in their children’s education and reminding students of the value of a diploma.

This year, Telemundo has joined with award-winning curriculum experts Young Minds Inspired (YMI) to distribute educational materials to selected high schools in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago that reinforce the messages of "El Poder de Saber," along with other network initiatives such as voter registration, the digital transition and protecting the environment.
