 “Fútbol Estelar: Chivas vs. Tigres,” more than doubled Azteca America’s Futbol Liga Mexicana (FLM) game, Cruz Azul vs. Atlante, both airing on Wednesday, May 4.


The “Fútbol Estelar: Chivas vs. Tigres” match aired from 8:00pm – 10:05pm and averaged 968,000 total viewers (persons 2+) and 664,000 adults 18-49. 

Azteca America’s Futbol Liga Mexicana (FLM) game, Cruz Azul vs. Atlante, which aired from 9:55pm – 12:05am, averaged 456,000 total viewers (persons 2+) and 308,000 Adults 18-49.

Locally, the quarterfinal game between Chivas and Tigres outperformed the combined delivery of ABC, CBS and Fox in the time period on KVEA in Los Angeles among adults 18-49 and delivered a 31% share of the television audience and a 51% share of the Spanish language television audience in the market in the adults 18-49 demographic. Among total viewers (persons 2+) in Los Angeles, the game drew a 37% share of the Spanish language audience.

Compared to FLM’s Clausura 2011 regular season average on Telemundo, Wednesday night’s quarterfinal game increased by triple digits in key demographics, including by +158% among total viewers (persons 2+) (968,000 vs. 375,000), +163% among adults 18-49 (664,000 vs. 253,000), +181% among men 18-49 (506,000 vs. 180,000) and +164% among men 18-34 (289,000 vs. 110,000).
