Former Viacom President Terrence Elkes has died of a heart problem at age 73. Elkes was hired as General Counsel of Viacom a year or so after it was spun off from CBS in 1971 and became President in 1978. Elkes left Viacom after it was acquired by Sumner Redstone in 1987. Elkes and Kenneth Gorman, also from Viacom, then set up Apollo Partners, a private equity company that invested in a number of media ventures.
