The Echo Nest, a music intelligence platform, is providing music intelligence to power radio playlisting within the new Spotify Radio app, which now includes music discovery, like Pandora and iHeartRadio. The new service will allow the creation of an unlimited number of stations, and allow consumers and unlimited number of “skips” to bypass songs they don’t like. That’s something Pandora does not offer.
The Echo Nest technology for Spotify Radio lets users create personalized radio stations based around songs or artists in Spotify’s catalog of around 15 million tracks. The Echo Nest’s musical intelligence helps Spotify users build playlists dynamically around any song or artist for a customized listening experience.
Spotify Radio is located within Spotify Apps, which is available to both users of the free service plus the Unlimited and Premium subscription tiers.
