Just after 7am Pacific on Wednesday, five esteemed individuals were honored by the Broadcasters Foundation of America with the 2022 Leadership Award. They include retired NAB EVP of Communications Dennis Wharton, Katz Media Group President Christine Travaglini, Chief Insights Officer at Cumulus Media and Westwood One Pierre Bouvard, and retired Quincy Media, Inc., CEO Ralph Oakley.
Byron Allen, the one-time comedian turned media mogul who today owns broadcast television owner Allen Media Group and production company Entertainment Studios, was also a recipient of a Leadership Award from BFA. Allen’s acceptance of the honor will be remembered for a generation — he hammed it up on stage before delivering a poignant message to the industry VIPs in attendance.
