Before the COVID-19 pandemic brought live event disruption to industries large and small, the annual Kagan Media Summit was scheduled for Thursday, June 18, in New York.

Now, the media research division at S&P Global Market Intelligence has finalized its plans to conduct the highly anticipated event virtually this year — via two complimentary webinars.

The first one is Thursday (6/18) at 1pm ET.

“We will be hosting our industry overview presentations and selected panel discussions virtually, so you can still hear the latest from Kagan and from industry leading figures,” says Robin Flynn, S&P Global Market Intelligence Managing Director of Research.

The topic of the first webinar is “TV Station Operations: The Impact of COVID-19.” Speakers for the June 18 webinar include Flynn, Gray Television EVP/Chief Legal & Development Officer Kevin Latek, E.W. Scripps Co. President of Local Media Brian Lawlor and Graham Media Group President/CEO Emily Barr.

The session begins with highlights of Kagan’s broadcast data and projections, evolving viewing habits and trends in OTT, direct-to-consumer services, multichannel and more, as forecasted by the media research division within S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Latek, Barr and Lawlor will speak with Flynn in a roundtable discussion centered on the impacts of COVID-19 on TV stations, viewership of news, and outlooks for ad market recovery.

The second webinar, scheduled for June 25 at 1pm ET, is devoted to “Advertising: Present and Future Trends for Traditional and Digital.”

Kagan Research analyst Seth Shafer will engage in a discussion with S&P Global Ratings Senior Director of Corporate Ratings Naveen Sarma, TVB President/CEO Steve Lanzano, and NBC Spot On SVP Shawn Makhjani.

Flynn says the webinars address topics critical to the future health of the media and broadcast industries.

“While the industry is facing challenges of unprecedented proportions, it is important to me and S&P Global Market Intelligence that we continue to deliver intelligence essential to the media landscape as we go through the COVID-19 crisis together,” she says.
