PORTLAND, ORE. — The Asst. Program Director, Music Director and midday host of Alpha Media flagship Top 40 KBFF-FM “Live 95.5” in Portland has been selected as the 2019 MIW Group-Nielsen Music Programming Mentee.

The Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group, an offshoot of Radio Ink magazine’s annual listing of the “Most Influential Women in Radio” and a volunteer organization dedicated to the advancement of female leadership in radio, and Nielsen Music picked Amanda “ICE” Habrowski.

“What an honor,” Habrowski said. “I am so excited to learn and grow alongside some of the most influential and inspiring women in our industry. I cannot thank the MIW Group and Nielsen enough for this incredible opportunity and you better believe I’ll be taking full advantage of this mentorship program. Chicks rule!”

Habrowski was attending Specs Howard School of the Arts in 2005 when she earned a role as a studio intern at a Citadel-owned station. This led to a full-time job at iHeartRadio’s WKQI-FM 95.5 in Detroit, where she served as the board operator for Mojo in the Morning and as a weekend host.

In 2008, while at WKQI, she gained national exposure for playing the role of “Ice” on VH1’s reality television shows Flavor of Love 3 and I Love Money 2.

In November 2011, Habrowski went to work for Russ Oasis, and took the afternoon shift at WJFX-FM “Hot 107.9” in Fort Wayne, Ind. In August 2014, she moved to Portland.

The one-year mentorship matches a female programming candidate with key leaders from both the MIW Radio Group and Nielsen Music aimed at sharpening the programming and professional skills needed to further their career in music-formatted radio.  The program encourages hands-on mentorship through conversations and shared insights from some of the most accomplished professionals in the field.

In addition to the mentoring opportunity, Habrowski received a scholarship to attend the 2019 Radio Show, held in September in Dallas.

The MIW-Nielsen Music Mentoring Program supplements the ongoing MIW Group Mildred Carter Mentoring Program, which offers women in all divisions of radio advice for broadcasting management, education and coveted access to leaders in radio broadcasting at the very highest level.
