The Ups and Downs of Media Stocks

U.S. financial markets were softer, overall, on Tuesday as the Dow Industrials fell 26.13 points to 22,653.86, and the Nasdaq was off 25.98 points, to 7,887.26.


However, most radio and TV broadcasting companies saw their stocks improve.

Beasley Media Group shares reclaimed 11 cents, pushing its shares to $1.77.

Also up: Cumulus Media, which saw its shares jump 23 cents to $4.16.

For iHeartMedia, a 92-cent gain put IHRT at $5.71, while Townsquare Media is presently at $4.43, improving by 12 cents from Monday.

Unfortunately, one high-profile radio company suffered another drop in its stock price. Entercom‘s woes continue, and ETM finished Tuesday’s trading at $0.7694, on volume of 3.7 million shares.

For TV companies, much green was seen, as Nexstar Media Group gained back 78 cents to push forward to $59.21. Sinclair Broadcast Group improved by 32 cents, to $14.49.
