This Drug Store Chain Loves Radio

In New York, you’ll find them under the venerable Duane Reade name.

Elsewhere across the U.S., you know them as Walgreens. The drug store chain competes heavily against Rite-Aid and CVS/Pharmacy across much of the U.S. But, Walgreens is the clear leader when it comes to using radio to target consumers.

In the latest Spot Ten Radio report from Media Monitors, Walgreens is once again a top 10 advertiser. It’s category competitors have not been present on AM or FM stations tracked by Media Monitors.

Walgreens clocks in with 24,849 spots.

Meanwhile, no one is coming close to The Home Depot. The home improvement chain dominates with a play count of nearly 88,000 — well ahead of Macy’s and GEICO.
