Three men were injured 10/25 when they fell from a 379-ft tower at Smith Media’s WKTV-TV (NBC) site in Utica, NY. The workers, from Alpha Antenna Service, were injured at about 11:45 a.m. when the antenna that was being installed for PBS affiliate WCNY’s HD television transmission upgrade for the Utica area snapped, said WCNY spokeswoman Caitlin Pompo. The men fell between 20 and 40 feet. Their injuries are not life-threatening, and they are receiving treatment at Utica-area hospitals. A tower climber is assessing the damage and to determine whether a crane or helicopter may be necessary to repair the damaged antenna, Pompo told The Utica, NY Observer-Dispatch.
