Three more X Factor contestants sign record deals

The $5 million record contract that Melanie Amaro won on Fox’s “X Factor” put her with a Sony Music label, which turned out to be Epic Records. Now it looks like she’ll have company at the label.

Epic announced that it has also signed three more X Factor contestants: Chris Rene, Marcus Canty and Astro.

RBR-TVBR observation: It appears to be no coincidence that Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Chairman/CEO of Epic Records, is also an X Factor judge. But then, Simon Cowell is also a judge and he’s never signed any act from the US X Factor (or “American Idol” before that) to his Syco label at Sony Music. In fact, the only American currently with Syco is Jackie Evancho, who came from NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Cowell’s Syco Television created AGT, but he isn’t part of the judging panel.
