Thursday's 'American Idol' strong winner over the rest

With the AMERICAN IDOL Top 12 Results show and an original BONES, FOX won the night across all key demos and dominated the next highest rated network (ABC) by +165% in the adult demo ad +167 in Total Viewers.                           
 
AMERICAN IDOL: 5.6/18, down -16% from last Thursday (Note – IDOL has been ticking up a couple tenths in the finals lately, so we expect this number to go up this afternoon)    


AMERICAN IDOL was the highest-rated program of the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers.

In the 8p hour AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the combined 4-net competition by +11% in Total Viewers (19.0 vs. 17.1 Mil.)       
                      
So far this season with Comparable Most Current ratings 9 (through Top 12 Results, 3/17/10), AMERICAN IDOL is retaining 91% of last year’s performance in Adults 18-49 (8.6/23 vs. 9.4/24) and 98% in Total Viewers (24.7 vs. 25.2 Mil.).                       
 
BONES:  3.4/10, up +6% from last week. Last night, BONES was also up +13% in Total Viewers (11.9 vs. 10.5 Mil.) week over week

BONES won the 9p hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, A18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens and was the second-highest rated program of the night behind IDOL    
 
Competition
 
Following Wipeout (2.0/7, down -9%), ABC’s Private Practice (1.9/6, down -17%) delivered its lowest original Thursday performance ever. At 10p, a special repeat of Off the Map (1.1/3) closed out the night.

Due to the nature of live sports, Fast Nationals for CBS are approximate. The NCAA Tournament Round of 64 posted a 1.6/5 for the night, down -57% from last year’s coverage which delivered a 3.7/11 in both the Fast and Final Nationals from 8-11p.

From 8-11p, each of NBC’s comedy originals either matched or established a season or series low. NBC aired Community (1.7/6), Perfect Couples (1.2/4), a repeat of The Office (1.5/5), Parks & Recreation (1.8/5), 30 Rock (1.7/5) and Outsourced (1.4/4, flat).
 
NOTE: Usage vs. last week was down -12.4% in the 8pm hour and -9.5% from 8-10p last night.

Also Note: Usage last night at 8pm was down -12.4% vs. the 9pm Wednesday IDOL hour for last year’s results show.
