Time Warner Cable and Scripps come to terms

Time Warner Cable (TWC) announced Wednesday that it has entered into multi-year agreements for carriage of The Food Network and Great American Country. Additional terms of the agreements were not disclosed. That very brief announcement did not hint at how tense those negotiations had been.

The previous contract that TWC had with Scripps Networks Interactive to carry the two cable networks expired as of New Year’s Day. However, carriage was continued as the two sides remained at the bargaining table.

Finally, this week, the deal was struck. What was the sticking point that took so long to resolve? Typically, no one is willing to discuss that publicly. But “money” would be a pretty safe bet.
