Compass Media Networks’ Todd “MJ” Schnitt recently lost his defamation lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge (Todd Clem) but vowed to appeal the jury’s decision. Now he has done just that and fired his original lawyers as well. One of Schnitt’s attorneys was arrested during the trial for suspicion of DUI and claims he was set up by the law firm representing Bubba.
The law firm of Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick released a statement: “We continue to believe in the Schnitts’ cause of action and hope that they are ultimately able to bring an end to the attacks on them personally and their personal reputations in this community.”
No word on who Schnitt will hire as a replacement, reports a Bay News 9 story.
Cox Media Group and RadioIO shock jock Clem was found not guilty in the defamation trial that Schnitt filed five years ago. After the verdict, Schnitt’s attorneys quickly left the courtroom. Schnitt said nothing as he exited. He wife Michelle appeared to have been crying, reported The Tampa Bay Times.
“We believe in the juror system, and we’re disappointed,” said Jonathon Ellis, one of Schnitt’s attorneys who was let go.
